About Family Allergy & Asthma Care

Caring for you just like we care for our own family.

We’ve brought peace of mind to families for over 25 years. Our friendly, caring team helps both adults and kids find relief from stressful food allergies, bothersome environmental allergies, and debilitating asthma.

Being moms and caring for our own families has given us a deeper understanding of how to care for you and your family. We understand the need for early morning and evening clinic hours, educational resources, a listening ear, and a caring heart. As board-certified allergists we have completed the highest level of training in allergies, asthma, and immunology which allows us to offer you expert care. We’re your devoted partners in solving your healthcare needs.

Meet Our Doctors

Fellowship-trained, board-certified allergists. And, we’re also moms.

Mary Hudelson, MD - Top Allergists in Denton & Flower Mound - Family Allergy & Asthma Care

Mary Hudelson, MD – DABAI, Director

Treating allergy patients is often like solving a mystery and requires time spent listening and gathering data in order to create a treatment plan that works! Now that’s truly fun!

When I founded FAAC in 1993, I wanted to do things differently to provide an innovative patient-centered experience. That’s why, when you visit us, we are able provide services such as allergy testing, sinus CT scans, and lung function tests in the office at the same time as your appointment; we offer extended office hours; and the same clinical team member stays with you through your entire visit.

My military service as an Army reservist activated for Operation Desert Storm was a life-changing experience. Not only did I meet my husband, I solidified my passion to care for entire families because it was my job to care for the military dependents (children and spouses) of Aviano Base in Italy while their family member was deployed. Upon my return to the U.S., I chose allergy/immunology as a specialty, partly because I would be able to care for all ages of people – babies to centenarians. And that’s just what I have done! And now, I’ve been in practice long enough that I often get to see the children of the children I cared for!

I love being an allergist! Every day, I am thankful for the opportunity I have to compassionately partner with patients and family members to make a positive difference in their lives.

Marie Fitzgerald, MD – DABAI, North Texas Pollen Station Director

I am passionate about improving every patient’s quality of life through better control of their asthma and allergies. I had allergies as a child and my treatment was life changing for me. I want to make that possible for others. It is so rewarding when one of my patients comes in and tells me how their asthma no longer hinders them from sports or their allergies no longer hinder them from their outdoor activities.
My interest and passion in allergies and asthma began at an early age. My dad was one of the early allergists in Texas. When he would come home in the evenings, I saw the joy he received from treating allergy and asthma as well as helping his patients find improved health. My dad was ahead of his time basing treatment for patients on the local pollen he counted at his station on the top of a Dallas building in the early 1950’s. For 15 years, I have enjoyed being the director of our nationally–certified pollen counting station which is one of two certified stations in the metroplex. We provide counts for other allergists in our region which helps everyone better care for families. As a mom, I’ve experienced the panic and anxiety of raising kids with food allergies and asthma. I know the impact on families firsthand, and that has created an innate passion to continue to learn all that I can to treat patients of all ages, infant to elder. Just like my colleagues, I’m double-boarded in allergy and immunology, as well as internal medicine. I’m also a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology. Through my experience as an associate professor of medicine at UT Southwestern, being a mother, and doctor, I know that listening to patients and working with them to find the best treatment for their lifestyle is critical.

Susamita (Sumi) Kesh, md – DABAI

I am passionate about helping patients get to the root of their problems and work together to improve their quality of life. My goal is to empower patients through teaching/education regarding their condition and find solutions that work specifically for them.

My training at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center, a top pediatric allergy hospital, has given me knowledge of the most up-to-date and excellent treatment options. I am excited to bring that knowledge to my patients every day!

I love to travel during vacations, and I enjoy outdoor tennis. But unfortunately, allergic conditions can lead to decreased flexibility in life. I truly want each person to be able to enjoy the hobbies they love, outdoor activities, and travel without allergic conditions holding them back and hindering their full enjoyment of life.

It is a joy to serve in this wonderful community! Every day I look forward to being able to take care of my patients and, often, their families. It is extremely rewarding to improve the quality of life for the entire family!

SMRIDHI (SIMI) MAHAJAN, MD – DABAI

I have the privilege of caring for patients across all stages of life—from infants to adults, navigating complex health challenges. What I find most fulfilling about allergy and immunology is the profound impact we can have on your daily quality of life. Whether I’m walking a family through their child’s first allergy diagnosis or helping adults finally gain control over persistent asthma, my mission remains constant: helping you breathe easier and live more fully.

I provide comprehensive care for the full spectrum of allergic, asthmatic, and immunologic conditions. While I treat all aspects of allergy and immunology, I have particular clinical interests in asthma management, environmental allergies, and drug allergy evaluation and delabeling. There’s something particularly satisfying about safely removing outdated or incorrect medication allergy labels—it’s like unlocking doors to better treatment possibilities that may have been closed for years. I love being the detective who helps solve these medical mysteries with you.

When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll find me exploring the great outdoors with my hiking boots on, discovering new destinations near and far, diving into my latest podcast obsession, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen (sometimes successfully!), strategizing over board games with friends, or gathering my favorite people around the dinner table. These moments of joy and connection remind me why good health matters so much—it’s what allows us to embrace the things we love.

I’m genuinely excited to meet you and become your trusted partner in this healthcare journey. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel your absolute best, so you can get back to focusing on what brings you the most joy in life.

Our Friendly Physician Assistants

Compassionately caring for your family.

ANGELICA YBANEZ-BENNETT, PA-C - Top Allergists in Denton & Flower Mound | Family Allergy & Asthma Care

Angelica Ybanez, Board Certified, PA-C

I have always been passionate about health and wellness. For 9 years, I cared for patients in a primary care setting and truly enjoyed my patients and diligently strived to help them establish a healthier lifestyle. It’s now been my privilege to care for patients in the allergy and asthma specialty for the past 10 years at Family Allergy & Asthma Care.

I enjoy developing relationships with my patients at FAAC and always want to communicate clearly and compassionately to provide a collaborative approach. I want each patient to receive the highest level of personalized care and clearly understand their healthcare plan.

I enjoy all aspects of allergy and asthma but one area of allergy I am truly passionate about is food allergy. It brings me such joy to see the food allergy patients achieve their individual goals. Many of the food allergy patients I see come in on a weekly basis for oral immunotherapy and I truly look forward to our time together.

I want to make the process easy, clear and comfortable for each one of them and partner with their families to make life less challenging and develop a pathway to freedom. That freedom can make simple things like going out to eat a joy instead of a fear. My goal is to help make their life easier and less challenging. I am blessed to be the Mom of twin boys. I love spending time with my family, playing sports and being outdoors. It is rewarding to me to be in allergy and asthma where I can help other people feel better and be able to spend time with their family doing the things they love!
